Guava is a horticultural product included in internationalcommodity. More than 150 countries have cultivated guava among others,Japan, India, Taiwan, Brazil, Australia, Philippines, Malaysia, andIndonesia. Indonesian superior product is red guava.The flesh ofguava is red until pink that tastes sweeter and fresher than whiteguava. Red guava contains vitamin C twice higher than sweet orange.Vitamin C is very good as antioxidant. Besides, guava is rich withfiber, especially pectin (soluble fiber) that can be used for gel orjelly production. Another benefit of pectin is to decrease cholesteroldegree by tying cholesterol and bile acid in the body and help theexcretion thereof.
